Meet The Editor . . . s

The Harpy, Emma Alisyn, is an author of over thirty paranormal, regency, and science fiction romance titles. She has also written MM, contemporary romance, and cozy mystery. Emma began her author services business two years ago to offer high quality, thoughtful, and affordable editing for indie authors. A homeschooling mom of five, she completed her M.Ed five years ago and promptly began to write and publish short romance, learning the ropes of the publishing industry from the ground up. She is a life long whale reader and will devour anything by Michelle Sagara, N.K. Jemisin, Grace Draven, Nalini Singh, Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews. . .and on and on.

She is committed to helping her clients craft the very best stories they can within a reasonable production timeline, and improve their storytelling which each manuscript.

The Harpy

I will tell you exactly what I am thinking, and said thinking frequently involves profanity. Note: Feedback is still constructive. We don't tear down authors. . .we tear down sloppy stories. For Line Edits, I will bleed on your WIP. You WILL see red.

Mistress Emma

I will write down what I'm thinking, then revise it to sound more. . .happy. Ugh. For Line Edits, I will gently show you the error of your style ways.

Emma

All is well in the world. Harpy is asleep. For Line Edits, I leave your 'style' alone and just clean it up.

VELLUM FORMAT

  • This is where you ask The Harpy what she's smoking and can you have some, too.

  • You want to see blood on the page. If it ain't red, she didn't do it right.

  • You want your Beta Read Hard, Fast, and Unprotected. Every time The Harpy sneers, sighs, or smiles you'll hear about it, but she'll also give you suggestions to fix it.

  • The Harpy will polish you sentences even if she think it's a part of your 'style.' Get a new style . . . one The Harpy doesn't hate.

  • The Beta Read is first, followed by a Line Edit, and then after all changes have been made, a final Proofreading pass. Your Blurb and Vellum export will complete your package.

  • Please allow for a turnaround of 5-10K per day. (Or don't, but that's how long it will take to do it right, or don't bother.) Give yourself plenty of time between the Beta Read and Line Editing phases for revisions. You'll need it.

  • Style Sheet. Edits are according to the Chicago Manual of Style unless otherwise requested. Feel free to include your own with submission.

  • Please apply industry standard formatting to your manuscript before submission.

The Harpy is giving this package away for a trifling .008/WORD or $400 for a 50,000 word manuscript. ($540 Value)
